What You Write Will Be Read: Don’t Make These Mistakes

There are many places you may need to write about your business: your website, your blog, social media pages, and even guest blogs. It can be very easy to just write a few things and assume that what you say does not matter as much as just putting something out there. Sure, people don’t actually read what you write, right? This could not be farther from the truth. In fact, if you are just throwing information out there, you are asking it to harm your business.

People Do Read

You must understand something: people read what you write. Whether they only read part of it or they go through whole articles, updates, or websites they will read something, and if you do not provide quality material, you are making a big mistake that could cost your business.

Mistakes You Could Be Making

Consider the following mistakes. If you are making any of them, then you are harming your business because they can make your company look extremely unprofessional. Make sure to avoid these mistakes in your blog, website, or anything you write.

  • Using poor grammar.
  • Keyword stuffing without thought to content. (This will hurt your rankings in search engines as well).
  • Hiring out the work to someone who speaks English as a second language poorly.
  • Including fluff material that does not say much of anything at all.
  • Making all of your writing pushy and overly salesy.
  • Writing long, dry, and boring material.

The writing that you provide reflects directly on your business. Bad writing or poor material will make your business look unprofessional.

Linking Matters

In addition to providing quality content, you must also make sure to use linking or something called back-linking. Your writing should not be pushy, but it should subtly lead the reader back to your company website. Many Premium WordPress templates will make it easy for you to include linking throughout your blog as a method to get people to visit your website. Just be sure you do not fill your writing with links. One or two here and there would be plenty.
If you are currently writing without any idea that people are actually reading what you write, then you are making a big mistake. You need to use proper grammar and well thought out sentence structure. You also need to include high quality content. Be sure you write things that are actually interesting and helpful as well.
