The one time every year where we like to throw caution to the wind and head off to pastures unknown is the summer holidays! No matter how rubbish the previous 12 months may have been, we are determined to wring every last ounce of fun out of these 2 or 3 weeks. We may be singletons, couples or families, but the ethos remains the same Have Fun! Even though the economy is showing few signs of picking up, many of us still manage to find the time and the money to fund these pleasurable jaunts across the globe. So isn’t it nice of those clever folk over at Apple to fully understand the importance of this tradition and step in with some apps that may smooth the way a little bit?

TripLingo will run on your iPhone, iPod touch and iPad, it requires iOS 4.3 or later in order to be compatible. Even the best holiday can be marred when you are constantly stumped with the local lingo, and that tattered old phrase book was so off the mark that when you ordered the chilli, they brought you custard! So TripLingo has decided to remove the pain from such diatribe and offers you a cultural lifeline with over 1200 phrases in each of 10 separate languages! It includes slang words and has a very handy voice to voice translation feature. You also get an excellent crash course in cultural differences and a host of flashcards for those tricky moments when it seems the locals don’t even know their own language! Overall we love this app and believe it will add loads to your next overseas adventure!
